FLAMENCO DANCE WORKSHOP
with

"CARLOS  RODRIGUEZ"

Dear all,

I had the pleasure to meet Carlos Rodriguez after attending the last Caracalla’s show at Forum de Beirut, as this show featured many international dance companies including Flamenco. I wanted to know this fabulous flamenco dancer in order to arrange with him a workshop, but at that time Carlos was committed with Caracalla who had the exclusivity. But he promised to come back, and HERE HE IS.

Quick glance at Carlos studies and career: He graduated in 2004 from the Royal Dance Conservatory in Madrid (Spain), in 2004 from the Escuela municipal de Arte dramatico de Alcorcon, he worked from 2006 to 2010 at the ANTONIO CANALES DANCE SCHOOL as a dance teacher, he worked and danced with the Aida Gomez Dance Company mainly at Festival Flamenco de Jerez in 2006, he danced with renown companies in Japan, Singapore, Korea, Canada etc.etc.

THE WORKSHOP :

THE FLAMENCO DANCE WORKSHOP WILL TAKE PLACE FROM MONDAY SEPTEMBER 27, TILL FRIDAY OCTOBER 22, 2010.

Levels : Beginners, Intermediates and Advanced.

Duration: A 4 weeks workshop, starting on Monday September 27, 2010.

1.5 hours twice a week for each level, during 4 weeks.

i.e. total of 12 hours.

Place : Lebanon Dance Academy (Private Club) – Sin el Fil (just behind GGF Stores on the road between rond-point Hayeck and rond-point Mkalles.

Just before GGF stores, you have a Pain d’Or store on your right, and arrows that indicate “Private Club”. Follow the arrows, you are almost done. And good news: there is an underground parking with no time limit, for only 2000 Lebanese Lira.

(I also wish to add that I noticed that flamenco classes are not welcomed being in Lebanon or Europe L Studio owners don’t like our nailed shoes that may damage the parquet, our loud music, our tacones and zapateados L The only person who welcomed me warmly and shared my enthusiasm was Ivan Samaha, owner of LDA. He offered one of his studios with great pleasure and I thank him for his so nice cooperation!)

Schedule :

Beginners : Monday and Wednesday from 6.30 to 8pm.

Intermediates (Group 1) : Tuesday and Thursday from 6.15 to 7.45pm

Intermediates (Group 2) : Tuesday from 8 to 9.30pm and Friday from 7 to 8.30pm (or 7.30 to 9pm)

Advanced or Master classes : Monday from 8 to 9.30 pm.

Fees : as usual, very affordable fees : 150$ the whole workshop.

Outfit : for those wondering what to wear, a wide skirt is enough for the time being. Regarding the shoes, ideally you should have flamenco shoes but any pair of shoes with 5cm heels (NO high or thin heels!!!!) is good. No ballerines, sandals, espadrilles, flat shoes…

I can provide “Menkes” flamenco shoes but I don’t have all the sizes (the “salon” model, black, semi professional) or you can order online www.menkes.es
